Native of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Iván Ríjos received his Bachelor's
Degree from the Puerto Rico Conservatory and his
Master's Degree from the University of Arizona (1995). He
additionally studied at the Peabody
Conservatory of Music in the
professional studies program with Manuel
Barrueco. In
1987, he was selected to participate
in the
Andrés Segovia

the
Manhattan
school of Music,
where Maestro Segovia
invited
Mr. Ríjos to
play for him at a
recital given in his honor.
Iván
Ríjos considers playing for Segovia in the Maestro's last master
class one of his most challenging moments. Recent performances
include the world-premiere recording of Ernesto
Cordero's Concierto de Bayoán with the San Juan Pops
Philharmonic Orchestra.
